Anna the Therapist

Being a new mom or dad can feel so overwhelming, exhausting and confusing. You might be having intrusive thoughts that terrify you, anxiety that is disrupting your sleep and secretly feeling like you made a huge mistake being a parent. You may also be processing a loss and feel invalidated and isolated. Don't feel shameful or embarrassed - I have been there too. Here is the great news - you won't always feel this way. Our time together will be spent exploring who you want to be, both as a person and as a parent, and taking actionable steps towards the new integrated you. You are not alone, you are worthy of support.

I am eclectic in my therapeutic approach, and don’t believe that there is one magic approach that is best for all. We will explore your strengths, talk about and implement new behaviors and actions and process past trauma and loss. I have specialized training in Maternal Mental Health through 2020 Mom and Postpartum Support International.

Anna the Parent

I thought I had a fairly clear understanding of what to expect prior to my son's birth. I’ve baby sat before…how hard could it be? Just to be EXTRA prepared, I did all the classes, washing and sterilizing. After a confusing and difficult birthing experience, I was thrown into the role of mother. I struggled through the newborn days which blended into the COVID days. I felt sadness, anxiety, panic, disappointment, grief, anger and a million other things. I survived, and continue to survive. You will too.

Wherever you are in your parenting journey, I am proud of you. I mean it. Regardless of how the day goes, the mistakes you feel you made, I know that you are doing the best that you can with the tools you have. I am too.

Anna the Person

I am a native Maryland-er. If I see a stray dog/cat, injured bird or worm on the sidewalk, I have to intervene. This has often led to calls to my husband who is hesitant and supportive. Together he and I navigate our way through raising a toddler and two dogs. I love house plants, especially ones that don’t mind not being watered for several weeks.

What Anna wants you to know

"You aren't doing it wrong. Parenting is just really hard."
